Title - British Industries - Steel.
Artist - Richard Jack R.A. R.I. (1866–1952).
Description - A rich and warm impression of a traditional steelworks by Richard Jack. As described by Sir Martin Conway in the LMS's own publication at the time, he suggests "Some there be by whom romance is best discovered amidst hives of industry and the clanging of machinery. To such the picturesqueness of manufacturing cities, the shining of blast furnaces upon clouds of smoke and steam, the spider-web structure of elaborate engineering contrivances, the magnificent atmospheric effects in stained fogs and low drifting clouds, are material for delight". This is one of the LMS (London Midland & Scottish Railway) Royal Academicians series from 1924.
