Description - In 1947 the Southern Railway commissioned Helen McKie to produce a pair of images showing the interior of London's Waterloo station as part of their celebrations for it's upcoming centenary. The resulting posters show the same scene during wartime conditions and then post-war peace. They are truly fabulous people-watching posters! This is the Peace example, providing a snapshot of London life in 1947. When the actual centenary arrived, nationalisation had taken place and the station was run by the new British Railways.
