Description - The fabulous view down from near the top of Snowdon, as a train of the rack-and-pinion Snowdon Mountain Railway approaches, with the little steam locomotive working hard. The view is northwards across Llyn Padarn towards the Menai Strait and Anglesey.

Size - Double Royal (approx 40 x 25in or 101.5 x 63.5cm) plus linen border.

Grade: B, conservation-backed on linen as acquired.
There are a lot of repairs to old sellotape damage and paper replacement to losses, mainly round the edges and in the bottom section. We have improved the restored appearance using watercolour pencils but the damage is still visible. More detailed photos are available on request if required.

David Charles Cobb was born in Kent in 1921. He was a marine artist and draughtsman and was President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists. He was married to the painter, Jean Main, and exhibited widely abroad and at R.B.A., S.M.A. and R.O.I. He produced a few posters for British Railways.
