Description - The mountains and large lake suggest the Lake District, as we can see a George Cross and Three Lions, and it is within the LMS's area of operation. The overall message of the poster is that although people have lived in and visited the area through centuries of history, the natural beauty is basically unchanged always worth visiting by travelling LMS. The title of the poster is a quote from the American writer G E Woodberry's "The North Shore Watch".

More About The Artist:
Claude Henry Buckle was born in London in 1905. He trained as an architect, but turned to art in 1928. He produced commissioned artwork for the new nuclear power stations around the country in the 1950s, and was a close friend of Terence Cuneo. He was a painter in oils and watercolour, particularly of marine subjects, and was prolific in his production of artwork for railway posters. He produced posters for GWR, LMS, SR & BR.
