Cleveland - Schabelsky Summary

Title - Rambles in the Cleveland District of Yorkshire.
Location
- Guisborough Priory, Yorkshire, England.
Artist
- Schabelsky.

Description
- An unusual style of poster image, particular to this artist. The black and white etching-style really highlights all that remains of the 12th century Augustinian Guisborough Priory. The East Window was retained when the rest was demolished following the dissolution of the monasteries in 1540. It is located inland from the North Yorkshire coast between Whitby and Redcar. The poster was advertising a new guidebook produced by the LNER, at a time when rambling was a very popular activity.

Year Published - c1930s
Size - Double Royal  (approx 40 x 25in or 101.5 x 63.5cm)

Other Details:
Original Vintage British Railway Travel Poster.
Published by the London & North Eastern Railway
Printed in England by Vincent Brooks, Day & Son Ltd, Lith. London W.C.2

Condition Grade and Condition Report:
Grade: B+/B, un-conserved.
Worn folds, tear on top middle fold, a little brown spotting from rear showing through, but does not detract from the image. More detailed photos are available on request if required.

More About The Artist:
We have to admit to knowing nothing about Schabelsky, other than that he produced the artwork for a number of posters for the LNER around the 1920s/30s. If anyone knows any more we'll be happy to hear.
