Title - Devon.
Condition Grade and Condition Report:
Location - Babbacombe, Torquay, Devon, England.
Artist - Frank Sherwin (1896-1986).
Description - After much research we have determined that this is probably a view of the west end of Babbacombe Beach, Torquay, maybe with a little artistic licence.
It is a lovely warm and summery image of a peaceful seaside location, with people on the beach, small fishing boats resting against the seawall, and one of the red rocks of the area prominent, all under a bright blue sky. The Great Western Railway produced a number of posters for the south-west, with titles of generic county names, straight after the war to encourage visitors back to holiday areas.
