Description
- Falkland Palace dates from the early 1500s but was badly damaged under Cromwell. Here we see the south gatehouse complete with the wall panels depicting the arms of the Scottish Kings and of the Marquis of Bute, who restored the palace after buying it at the end of the 19th century. It is currently managed by the National Trust for Scotland.

More About The Artist:
Claude Henry Buckle was born in London in 1905. He trained as an architect, but turned to art in 1928. He produced commissioned artwork for the new nuclear power stations around the country in the 1950s, and was a close friend of Terence Cuneo. He was a painter in oils and watercolour, particularly of marine subjects, and was prolific in his production of artwork for railway posters. He produced posters for GWR, LMS, SR & BR.
