Flying Scotsman - Freiwirth Summary

Title - England & Scotland by London & North Eastern Railway.
- Ladislas Freiwirth (1895-).

- A very bold and stylish vision of the famous Flying Scotsman train that doesn't actually mention it by name. The fabulous depiction of a winged steam train powering across the top of the cliffs is enough to tell the viewer what it is advertising. The LNER's winking eye logo (used from 1934) is within the wing as a reminder of the company providing the service. The scene is presumably based on the section of the East Coast Main Line between Berwick and Edinburgh where it is close to the cliff edge in a few places.
This poster was also released with the wording as "Up to Scotland From King's Cross" which would have needed no extra explanation for UK travellers, so the example we have here must have been produced for the international market.
