Title - League Football Division 1 West Ham United v West Bromwich Albion Special Excursion to London, Saturday 7th March 1959.
Artist - Patrick Cokayne Keely (xxxx-1970).
Description - This "Stock" poster used an image of a football and boot by Pat Keely from the early 1950s. British Railways would have had a large number of these posters printed with just the image, and then they would have been run through the printers again to add whatever wording was required at the time. This way one poster image could be reused many times and for many events over a number of years.
This example shows prices and times for departures from Wolverhampton Low Level, Wednesbury Central, West Bromwich, Stourbridge Junction, Lye, Cradley Heath & Cradley, Old Hill, Rowley Regis & Blackheath, Oldbury & Langley Green, Smethwick West and Birmingham Snow Hill, to London Paddington. West Ham won the game at Upton Park 3-1.
Excursion posters were always printed in small numbers, so very few examples have survived.
