Title - The Modernised Turnberry Hotel Ayrshire For Glorious Golf - LMS Hotels.
Location - Turnberry, Ayrshire, Scotland.
Artist - Anon.
Description - A stylish and stylised golfer is the centrepiece of a very unusual poster design. The surrounding appears to be the sea and either the beach or a bunker! The font style is also very unusual. The hotel underwent major expansion during the 1920s, so the poster may have been released to coincide with the reopening. This poster was originally rescued from underneath the carpets in a house in north London in the 1980s, with a number of others dated from the period 1924-28. Arthur Towle was the LMS Hotel Controller from 1925 to 1941.
Year Published - 1920s
Size - Double Royal (approx 40 x 25in or 101.5 x 63.5cm) plus linen border.
