- A view over the harbour area of the town of Ilfracombe, looking west from the top of Hillsborough. This view was used by a number of different artists over the years, but never with quite the same turquoise-blue intensity to the sea or heat haze to the horizon as Spradbery shows here. This was one of the very first posters issued by the new "British Railways", before they started using the Totem logo.. Year Published

Grade: B+/B, conservation-backed on linen.
Backed on thick linen as acquired. Some wavy creases, mainly towards the right side, not all that well stuck down on the backing, so could potentially be removed and re-backed in the future. Small edge loss to right side. Would still display well nonetheless. Price takes account of condition. More detailed photos are available on request if required.More About The Artist:
Walter Ernest Spradbery was born in East Dulwich, London. He was a watercolourist, linocut artist, poster designer and art teacher. He produced a large number of poster for the London Transport companies, as well as some for the LNER and British Railways.
