- The magnificent cloisters (second largest in England) are shown, with the Norman tower and later spire soaring above. Some of the cream coloured Caen limestone of the cathedral turned pink after a fire caused by a lightning strike in 1463 so it has a slightly unusual colouration. Year Published

Kenneth Steel was born in Sheffield, and studied at Sheffield College of Art.
He was a painter in oils and watercolour, and a printmaker and engraver. He produced a large number of railway posters and carriage prints for British Railways.
