Description - Nestled in the Pennine Fells, we see the village of Stainforth, near Settle (reached by the Settle & Carlisle railway route), surrounded by picturesque moorland scenery. It is a very popular area for hiking and walking. The poster states "Go in comfort by train to Settle, Giggleswick or Horton-in-Ribblesdale stations". All of those stations survived the Beeching axe and are still open today.

More About The Artist:
John Anthony Greene was born in Steyning, Sussex. He studied at Brighton Art School and won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art. He lectured at the Architectural Association and had a long career as a designer/artist, often calling on his wife Margaret to add the human figures if his landscapes required them. He produced commissions for ICI, the Post Office, the British Transport Commission and British Railways among others.
