Title - South Wales Coals – The World's Best.
Artist - H.V. Hewlett.
Description - The South Wales Trade Recovery and Expansion Committee appears to have been set up following the great depression in the early 1930s. The economic slump dramatically affected the income of the Great Western Railway, with a large amount of it based on the transportation of coal from the vast south Wales coalfields, both within the UK and for export.
This patriotic poster aimed at encouraging export traffic, is designed with the union flag flying over a map of the world, with GWR roundels in each corner.
