Description - An attractive angled bird's eye view map of the coastal regions of northern Europe, including the ports of Dunkerque, Ghent, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Harlingen, Hamburg and Copenhagen. Associated Humber Lines was a joint operation of the LNER and LMS, and we see the steamship routes across the North Sea from each of the ports of Grimsby, Hull and Goole. This was one of a series of posters Black produced covering all parts of the LNER network.

Montague Birrell Black was born in Stockwell, London in 1884. He started his career producing military and naval artwork, and became an artist war correspondent. He was renowed for his map posters for various railway companies over many years, and also produced work for the White Star Line.
