Artist - Elijah Albert Cox (1876-1955).
Description - A Park Keeper was a London County Council employee (LCC badge on his hat) whose job was to patrol the green open spaces within inner London. He is shown in his uniform complete with his boots and cane. The London Characters series of 8 posters was a great hit with the travelling public at the time, with people buying any spares to display at home.
This smaller, Double Crown paper size was used for some of the earlier London Transport posters.

Grade: A-, conservation-backed on Japanese paper as acquired.
Very good condition with a little minor wrinkling to the backing, occasional light creases to the poster, and some very small paper loss repairs to the extreme edges. More detailed photos are available on request if required.

Elijah Albert Cox was born in Islington, and went to the People's Palace Technical School, Whitechapel. He was a painter, poster artist and book illustrator, and had a post-impressionist style.
