Title - Winchester by Train - The Cathedral.

Description - The magnificent west front of the Norman-built Winchester Cathedral, in the small city and former English capital, where past English Kings have been both crowned and buried. The huge stained glass windows are shown to full effect. Edward Pond was commissioned by the newly formed Network SouthEast region in 1989 to produce posters for a large number of destinations in the region, as well as murals for inside the trains and other publicity material.

More About The Artist:
Edward Pond was born in Hackney in 1929 before moving to Romford as a child, attended art school in Dagenham, and then the Royal College of Art. He was a textile designer, oil painter and silkscreen artist with his own consultancy producing work for a number of large companies and organisations.
