Description - A wonderful unspoilt area of the Dales, which may be Wharfedale, with some of Lampitt's trademark cloud shadows on the hills. Underneath are some lines from poet A.E. Housman. This example of the poster has the BR double arrows screen-printed over the top of the original British Railways totem symbol, suggesting that they were still displaying the posters after the re-branding in 1965.

Ronald Lampitt was born in Worcester in 1906. He was a painter and illustrator in oils and watercolour, specialising in landscapes and rural scenes. He produced a lot of posters for GWR, LMS, SR as well as BR. He also produced work for a lot of book and magazine covers, and for Ladybird books.
